The southern midlands of Tenerife offer a striking landscape, where ancient trails run along gentle pyroclastic slopes covered with terraced vineyards and lush pine forests. At this altitude, between 600 and 1,200 meters, the first rural settlements were established, taking advantage of the fertile soil for farming and moving away from the coast as protection against pirate attacks.
The villages retain their ancient character, with traditional architecture and layouts that respect the volcanic topography. From the paths, you can enjoy sweeping views of the ocean, and in the opposite direction, you can contemplate the forested crown and glimpse the National Park.
The vineyards, adapted to the altitude and the terrain, intermingle with the native vegetation, creating a harmony between nature and the human landscape. Here, walking is to contemplate, understand, and enjoy the rural and volcanic soul of the south of the island.
