Essential gear for your hiking trip
As a professional mountain guide, my priority is to ensure the safety, comfort, and enjoyment of every participant on our routes. Below, you’ll find a list of mandatory and recommended gear to help you come well-prepared for our excursions:
- Mandatory Gear
To guarantee your safety and well-being during the hike, it is essential that each participant brings:
- At least 1.5 liters of water (preferably distributed in several bottles or a hydration bladder).
- Energy bars, nuts, and fresh fruit to maintain energy throughout the route.
- Full sun protection:
- Hat or cap
- Sunglasses with UV protection
- High-protection sunscreen
- Comfortable and suitable backpack (minimum 20–25L), with enough capacity to carry everything you need.
- Rain protection: waterproof or windproof jacket.
- Proper footwear: hiking boots or trail shoes with good grip and ankle support.
- Appropriate clothing for temperature changes: an extra layer for cooler conditions (fleece, light jacket, etc.).
- Recommended Gear
These items are not mandatory but will add extra comfort and safety to your hike:
- Camera or smartphone with a good camera to capture the landscapes.
- Change of clothes and comfortable shoes for after the hike.
- Additional food or snacks if the hike is long or if you tend to get hungry between meals.
- Waterproof backpack cover or dry bag to protect contents in case of rain.
- External battery/power bank for your phone.
- Headlamp with charged batteries (very useful if the hike runs longer than expected).
- Gloves and neck warmer for cool or high-altitude routes.
- Trash bag to carry out your waste (leave the mountain as you found it!).
- Emergency thermal blanket.
- Small personal first-aid kit with the basics: band-aids, pain reliever, dressings, antiseptic, etc.
- Toilet paper or tissues.
